The Mighty Ghost Battalion of Eastside High School in Paterson, NJ, is an Elite U.S. Army JROTC unit dedicated to building leadership, discipline, and teamwork. With a proud record in drill, Raiders, and academic competitions, and a strong commitment to community service, our cadets stand ready to lead in the military, college, and beyond.

OUR TEAMS

DRILL

The Drill Team performs synchronized marching routines, either with or without rifles. They compete in regulation and exhibition drills, showcasing precision, teamwork, and military bearing.

COLOR GUARD

The Color Guard team presents and carries the national, state, and unit flags during ceremonies and events. They perform precise, respectful movements to honor the flag and represent the discipline and pride of the JROTC program.

The Raiders team focuses on physical fitness and outdoor challenges. Events include obstacle courses, rope bridge building, running, and team-based physical tasks. It’s a high-energy team that builds strength, endurance, and teamwork.

Senior Army Instructor

MAJOR

Luis Barraza

Major Barraza, serves as the lead instructor and overall director of the program. He oversees all operations and ensures that every aspect of the battalion runs with excellence. As the senior authority, he acts as an inspector, advisor, and mentor, guiding both the cadets and the instructor team with leadership, discipline, and vision.

Ricardo Garcia

CSM Garcia serves as one of the Army Instructors for the Mighty Ghost Battalion. With his extensive NCO experience, he focuses on discipline, teamwork, and leadership trough action. His approachable mentorship style motivates cadets to perform at their best in every aspect of the program.

Willson Ormaza

Command Sergeant Major Ormaza oversees logistics and equipment, serving as a key supervisor. He ensures that uniforms, gear, and training materials are properly maintained, available, and distributed. His work plays a vital role in helping cadets stay prepared and professional for every event and activity.
